Poem - The Mountain Stream

Softly whispering her secrets in a thousand unknown tongues

She calms my mind and lifts my spirit "peace, peace" says she

Caressing my lips with rivulets of liquid coolness,
she gives me life and satisfies the deep longings of my soul

Her endless flow brings supple smoothness to the roughest stone and glids gently down, down

Her strength is mighty,
small and wondering at first, she gathers herself like a summer storm
ever moving, pushing, finding the path, and lower, rushing

Now falling, flying to the valley below
her hair is misty, lite and swirling, taking flight
the sunlight through her billowing locks lights a rainbow of colors

Make way! she shouts, now raging,
a cacophony of sound drowning the song of every bird

A mighty torrent is she, washing all in her path, searching
where is my family? she wonders,
she broadens her coasts and gives the mariner safe passage

There ahead in the vista, she gathers herself and meets her children
waiting for her, calling
finally she is complete, her mighty rythimic rush, rush now laping at the shore
this is the cycle of life
